Super Nutritious Teff Porridge

Have you ever heard about TEFF grain or actually to be more precise seed?!

If not, you should definitely try it as soon as possible! It my biggest recent discovery and favourite breakfast of recent months.

Teff apart from nutritious aspects it is perfect for people who have gluten intolerance or who are just bored with regular oatmeal.

It is full of minerals like Calcium, Iron, Magnesium and Copper, moreover its is a perfect source of protein and vitamin B.


I found teff flakes perfect substitute to the normal oat porridge that I recently became sensitive to. Teff one is much quicker to prepare and I just love its texture! I know that you might be a bit shocked and suspicious either the combination with avocado works or not but believe me it definitely does! This is the best flavour combinations ever and its not savoury as some of you might think! It is super nutritious, filling and delicious! It takes literally less than 5 minutes to prepare so it is perfect option for the who do not have time or passion to cook in the morning!


Let me introduce you my beloved porridge combo and GET inspired!

  • Teff Flakes (1/3 cup is perfect for one portion)
  • Plant Milk
  • Cinnamon
  • Cardamon
  • Maca Powder
  • Lucuma Powder
  • Grounded Flaxseeds
  • Nut Butter
  • Hemp Seeds
  • Avocado
  • Fresh Lime

Place teff, spices, powders and flaxseeds in the pot and cook it with some plant milk and for approximately 2-3 minutes stirring it with the wooden spoon. It gets ready and thick super quickly so you can add a bit extra hot water or milk and stir it a few times.

Your super easy and nutritious porridge is ready and now its time for toppings!


Avocado and lime are definitely must haves to go with a bit sweet taste of the porridge! I also add some nut butter either mixing it within the porridge or putting a dollop on top! Hemp seeds are my favourite because they are crunchy and nutritious but you can choose various nuts and seeds that you particularly like!

If you want to add also some different superfoods like cacao or carob while cooking teff flakes go for it!

And if you are a sweet tooth maybe consider adding some date syrup or agave.
