HOT plums, baked or steamed, are undoubtedly my favourites during the autumn and winter time. They are perfect for a depressing, fogy autumn morning to start your day properly, with a smile and to warm up your body inside ! It is especially important during the fall and wintertime to nourish yourself with warm dishes. Try to avoid cold ones especially when you are chilly person, like me 🙂 Instead of eating, cold milk with cereals, or smoothies, which are delicious but better for spring and summer, try to prepare baked fruits, crumbles, oatmeal or millet porridge to warm yourself. Baked plums under the crumble topping are perfect either for breakfast or for the healthy dessert (good while hosting guests :)) They are easy to make and can last you for a few mornings, when you do not have time and energy to prepare breakfast in a rush every day.
Crumble topping is your choice !
Choose what you like the most. Oat flakes, millet grains or maybe mix ? Add different nuts and seeds and spice it. Mix them all and another time try different combination 🙂
I literally fell in love with this recipe, it is really simple, however nutritious and delicious.
- Oat Flakes
- Millet Grains
- Quinoa flakes (if u do not have these, just miss them out)
- Chia Seeds
- Almond Flakes
- Coconut Shreds
- Coconut Oil (or any plant oil)
YOU ALSO NEED:
- Casserole Dish
Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees celsius. Cut the plums in half and put them into the casserole dish (skin on the bottom). Mix all the ingredients for a crumble topping in a bowl and then top the plums with it. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes, the topping should be golden brown at the end of the cooking time, the plums should be soft and beautifully purple and what is the most important, the smell in your kitchen and whole flat should be amazing. Don’t let it deceive you, the plums are really hot 🙂 Leave them to cool, and enjoy your portion ! Put the rest into a jar or box and store it in a fridge for a few days.
* The amount of the crumble topping depends on you. If you want this dish richer and more nutritious and rather for breakfast add more ingredients and baste with plant milk to make it fluffier to enable the crumble to soak it up. If you want it for a dessert add less quantities and avoid milk.
Hot plums are the best with a spoon of yogurt (vegan or natural) then cool them a bit 🙂 I also like to eat them for the next few days, cold with a portion of hot porridge, they taste even better after on day in the fridge 😉 You can also put the into the pot and heat them up adding a little bit of plant milk !
